PTA Parents’ Guide to Assessments and Accountability

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is pleased to share the following documents from the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The MDE understands the importance of parent engagement in order to guarantee that all Michigan kids graduate career, college, and community ready.

The PTA Parents’ Guide to Assessments and Accountability was prepared by the National Parent Teacher Association and disseminated by the Michigan Parent Teacher Association. It provides parents with a look ahead at assessment and accountability in Michigan, helping parents know what to expect. It includes an overview of new assessments that are coming, including some sample test items, and an overview of school accountability in Michigan.

The Parents’ Guide to Student Success was prepared by the National Parent Teacher Association, and is being disseminated by the Michigan Parent Teacher Association. It provides parents with an overview of what students will learn in K-12 in English language Arts and Mathematics. It also provides parents with ideas for helping their children learn at home, and with ideas for speaking with their children’s teachers and principals about their students’ learning.
